Kaziemierz Cycon
1931, Poland
At 21 he started having behavioural problems and ended up in hospital for aggressive behaviour. Prostrate and withdrawn Kaziemierz Cycon lived quietly, having no contact with anyone. In February 1973 he started drawing and painting. He refused anyone’s comments or advice from the doctors and therapists. The subject is his own choice, and it is always the same, large faces with bulging eyes, in characteristic style and colours.
It reflects introspection as well as an intensive inner pain.
