Célestin Pierret

Céléstin

1961, Belgium

After one year at university forced by his parents and the outstanding meeting with the Créa-Theatre, Celestin Pierret breaks off conspicuously and definitely the “social contract” and refutes all of its principles and conventions. Celestin first tried his hand on old fence posts from which he extracted totem-figures out of which an intensity of idealized pain comes, which sometimes makes us dizzy.

Later on he approaches beech whose nobleness affects him. This tree allows him to create bigger sculptures in one piece, the technique of which he better controls.
